The UC San Diego Endocrinology Fellowship Program provides a broad education over 2 years. Rigorous clinical training occurs in three academic hospitals, each with its own inpatient and outpatient components. Our 3 hospital systems provide complementary experiences serving diverse patient populations.
UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest is a 390-bed facility that serves a diverse population ranging from underserved to referrals from around the world. Fellows consult on complex patients on the HIV/AIDS service as well as endocrinopathies associated with trauma and burn surgery.
UC San Diego Medical Center in La Jolla is composed of 3 hospital systems that are physically connected in one location. The Medical Center also serves as a tertiary/quaternary referral center providing a multitude of specialized services including cardiopulmonary, liver, kidney, and bone marrow transplantation programs.
VA San Diego Medical Center is a 225-bed facility located in La Jolla adjacent to the UC San Diego School of Medicine campus. The VA Medical Center offers excellent experience in the management of the endocrine problems of the veteran population. The VA San Diego Healthcare System delivers high-quality, compassionate care to over 86,000 Veterans in the greater San Diego area, and is a regional referral center for cardiovascular surgery and spinal cord injury. VASDHS has one of the largest research programs in the VA Healthcare System.
