She is a gifted educator, mentor, and leader who has made a lasting impact on countless medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty through her dedication to excellence in medical education.
This recognition is a well-deserved acknowledgment of her outstanding contributions and commitment to training the next generation of physicians.
Congratulations, Dr. Santos, on this remarkable achievement!

Dr. Robert Thomas featured in San Diego Union Tribune
Congratulations to Dr. Robert Thomas, Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UC San Diego, on being featured in The San Diego Union-Tribune's recent article examining the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in people without diabetes.
The article highlights an innovative educational experience led by Dr. Mary Boyle, Professor of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego, in which students in her Metabolic Health Analytics course wore CGMs to conduct personalized "N-of-1" experiments exploring how diet, sleep, exercise, and stress influence their metabolic health.
Dr. Thomas provided expert perspective on both the potential benefits and limitations of CGM use in healthy individuals. While real-time feedback can help people better understand the impact of their daily choices, he also emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary "device burden" and ensuring that data are paired with actionable insights.
As interest in personalized health monitoring continues to grow, thoughtful discussions like these are essential to understanding how technology can be used effectively to improve health and wellness.
Congratulations, Robert, on helping to advance this important conversation.

Congratulations to our 2026 UC San Diego Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship graduates, Dr. Tamar Wolinsky and Dr. Anita Dhulipali!
